Project Overview
Journicity—later rebranded as JX Strategy—was my first official marketing job, and it shaped the way I think as a marketer. I didn’t just learn hard skills like web development and SEO; I learned how to test ideas, build digital ecosystems, and take ownership of creative campaigns. I was the first employee hired by Scott Harward, who gave me the trust, mentorship, and space to press all the buttons and see what they do (thankfully, he also taught me to keep backups).
Our main challenge started during COVID-19: how do you get people to physically visit the Oakland Temple Visitors’ Center when there’s almost no online presence? I helped build their digital footprint from the ground up. Within a short time, we ranked in the top 5 things to do in California on TripAdvisor. That win led to similar projects in Mesa, Rome, and Washington D.C.
Website
I helped design and build WordPress-based websites for templehills.org, mesatemple.org, dctemple.org, and tempiodiroma.org. We integrated multilingual translation, analytics, event tracking, and even virtual tours—giving each site both reach and substance.
SEO & Digital Ranking
My primary role was boosting visibility. I helped push the Oakland Temple Visitors’ Center into the Top 5 attractions in California on TripAdvisor. Similar SEO efforts were implemented for other temples in Mesa, Rome, and Washington D.C.
Email Campaigns
I managed weekly email newsletters for both Temple Hill and the Mesa Temple, reaching a 70% open rate. These emails were key in driving traffic to events, announcements, and online content.
Online Advertising
We launched campaigns to promote free English and Family History classes. One campaign specifically targeted local Chinese-speaking residents through WeChat. Though it was a challenging platform due to unique restrictions, it taught me a lot about cultural sensitivity and niche targeting.
Content Creation & Listings
I wrote, edited, and managed content across blogs, social media, event pages, and listings. I was in charge of keeping everything updated across platforms like Eventbrite, Google Listings, and TripAdvisor, and I created funnels to turn content into SEO wins.
